課程概述

本課程在介紹西洋現代早期（early modern period）的哲學史。這段歷史始於十六世紀初，終於十九世紀初，緜延大約三百年的時間。這段哲學史上承「西洋哲學史一」所教授的希臘與中世紀哲學，下啟當代哲學。本課程按照時間次序，將這段哲學史分為三部分：（一）十六世紀哲學，（二）笛卡兒（Descartes）到柏克萊（Berkeley）（從十七世紀初到十八世紀初），（三）休姆（Hume）到黑格爾（Hegel）（從十八世紀初到十九世紀初）。

課程目標

使學生熟習西洋現代早期哲學史，其中包含歐陸理性論（Continental rationalism）、英國經驗論（British empiricism）、德國觀念論（German Idealism）等重要的哲學流派，以及笛卡兒、柏克萊、休姆、康德（Kant）與黑格爾等大哲學家。

課程要求

修習本課程之前最好已修過「西洋哲學史一」並取得其學分。
